Host City Lahti

With a population of 120,000 people, Lahti is a growing, vibrant city where bold environmental choices are made every day. Lahti is internationally acknowledged for its significant climate action and the leading environmental city in Finland. Lahti aims for climate neutrality by 2025 and has already cut its CO2 emissions by 70% from 1990 level.

Lahti combines the best of both worlds: a magnificent lake scenery, diverse nature and originality of a small town, yet the circular economy models, energy solutions and cleantech business opportunities of a major city. Lahti it is the Gateway to the Finnish Lakeland – the largest in Europe. Where in the world can you swim in a lake that is less than one kilometer from a city hall and market square and the water is basically pure enough to drink?
