Gustav Brinkby, MSc, educated with optometry degree in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2009. The program in Denmark was built on combining practice - during this 4,5 years of study he was at practice at different sites in Sweden, Denmark and Norway.

In 2011 he graduated in MSc Clinical Optometry from SALUS University, USA. Main topics were clinical optometry, ocular disease; glaucoma, AMD; diabetes retinopathy, binocular vision and pediatric optometry.

Gustav Brinkby was awarded with Honors degree for clinical research “Ocular parameters and their relation to gender in healthy Caucasians seen in normal optometric practice at three sites in Norway & Sweden”.

As for today, Gustav is fully dedicated to his work at his own private practice in Helsingborg, Sweden, where they are specialized in eye health assessments. It involves daily contact with patients with advanced eye diseases and assessments of its kind. Daily routine includes dilated eye examinations with +90D lens, 3-mirrorlens and evaluations of data using instruments (OCT, topography and SAP-Visual Field).

Gustav also sees about 350 eyes with keratoconus/PMD for assessments of the disease and fittings with special contact lenses. This involves fitting RGPs Rose K, minisclerals and fullscleral lenses.

Due to this interest of eye health, lecturing is a big part of his job. It involves educating and lecturing special contact lenses for Multilens, a company for special visual aids outside Göteborg, Sweden. This includes lecturing for optometrists to give those advanced knowledge about Mutlilens specialty contact lenses.

In 2017, he was an assistant instructor at SALUS University for Specialized training in posterior segment disease. The years after, in 2018, he was nominated as ‘Optician of the year’ at NCLF.

Also privileged to hold lectures in eyecare at conferences in Europe, recently for Specsavers Conference 2019 in Utrecht, Oslo, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Helsinki.

Gustav is a co-author in different articles; an opinion article in the journal for medical doctors in Sweden, entitled "Optometrists with diagnostic privileges is a resource that should be used in diabetes care" (Läkartidningen.se 2017-01-23), and in February 2018 an article entitled "Binocular measurements in a non-selected group of non-strabismic patients 8-35 years old, in Sweden in the journal Optometry and Visual Performance (Vol 6, Issue 1,2018).

Currently finished with Swedish Optometry Associations glaucoma project in Region Skåne (South of Sweden) to evaluate new Clinical glaucoma guidelines for Optometrists. This has developed to recognition of new guidelines by Region Skåne and its fully implemented to use those when meeting a patients with heredity for glaucoma.
