Petri Parvinen has graduated from B.Sc., M.Sc. and CEMS Degrees at London School of Economics and Doctor of Philosophy at Helsinki University of Technology 2003. He has worked as a docent and professor at the Helsinki School of Economics, Aalto University School of Economics and Aalto University Department of Industrial Engineering. As a visiting researcher, Parvinen has worked for instance at Stanford University in 2009-2013.

In research, Parvinen has focused on managing the growth, profitability and internationalization of business units. Research projects have been such as efficiency, business models, e-sales, transition to service business and value-based sales. He leads a multidisciplinary research team across university and nationality boundaries that develops new algorithm-based methods for pricing and crossing canals.

In applied research and expert assignments, Parvinen's most important topics have been increasing the appreciation of sales work, national business strategies, finance for growth, renewing business models, and corporate restructuring. The most familiar of the industries are the various fields of expertise, production and technology, bio-economy, pharmaceutical industry and social and health care. Parvinen has also worked as an entrepreneur, manager, salesman, academic expert and global consultant in addition to his research and teaching duties. Parvinen has established 13 companies and experienced both successes and failures. Parvinen is active in the boards of various companies and lectures weekly.

Petri Parvinen, Professor of Philosophy, was appointed as a Professor of Strategic Marketing and Management from 1 September 2014 onwards.
