Critical infrastructures provide essential services that guarantee the smooth functioning of a modern society and serve as the backbone for the economic activities. These critical infrastructures include energy, telecommunication, finance, health, and transport sectors. The energy infrastructure is arguably among one of the most complex and critical infrastructures and it has become a primary target for cyber attacks.

The unavailability in supply of energy has a high potential impact on economy and proper functioning of the civil society. A potential disruption could affect the society, industry and trade with a high risk of impact on the gross domestic product.

It is essential that energy sector operators take cyber secure procedures as an integral part of their daily life. For this purpose, Smart Energy Finland program is organizing a seminar to include views from different parts of the energy sector. We have speakers from utilities and research, as well as companies facing the challenges, and companies providing the solutions.

In the end the presenters will participate in the panel which will focus on the topic The level of cybersec in Europe – situation, expectations, challenges and solutions.

The event is supported by EnergyVaasa, VTT and Smart Otaniemi.
